Attention all handi-capable dogs, Lessons From A Paralyzed Dog is having our first-ever Dog Halloween Costume Contest Giveaway thanks to HandicappedPets.com. We are awarding a $100 Gift Card prize to the Handicapped Pets online store for one lucky pup.
If you are the pet parent of a paralyzed, aging or injured dog I am sure you have found yourself at the HandicappedPets.com site. The company has the most comprehensive selection of products, services and support to make life easier and better for pets with disabilities. I love HandicappedPets.com and used them often during Sophie’s illness. It was one of the first resources I found when my dog began to lose her ability to walk and I turned to them when Sophie needed her wheelchair and rear lifting harness.
I respect the organization so much I even have a link with their ongoing specials on the sidebar of this blog.

The Handicapped Pets Story
HandicappedPets.com was created in 2001 by Mark C. Robinson in memory of his Keeshond, Mercedes. She was euthanized at the advice of her veterinarian after being diagnosed with a mild form of epilepsy because there weren’t any better options for her care. After her death, Mark decided to find resources for all types of disabled pets.
“There was a day when injured or special needs pets were ‘no good anymore’,” said Mark. “When an animal was hurt, became lame or incontinent, or was for any reason no longer wanted, they were put down.
We are becoming more aware of the sacredness of all life. We are beginning to understand the power of the loving bond that is created when one living thing cares for another. Our pets have become family members and deserve to be loved, respected, and cherished. The purpose and mission of HandicappedPets.com is to help people learn that there are alternatives to euthanasia. An elderly, disabled, or injured pet can often live a high quality life for many years if they get the little help that they need; diapers, a rear-support leash, or a wheelchair.”
If you need ideas costume ideas here is a story from last year: Perfect Halloween Costumes for Dogs In Wheelchairs.
