Animal lovers in Juniata County, PA are pulling together because a paralyzed Labrador/ Great Dane puppy needs a miracle. I hope you’ll join their effort by sharing Wyatt’s story. The ordeal began on January 7 when State police were called about a young dog lying on the side of a road. Officials think Wyatt was hit by a car. They transported him to a local veterinary hospital where it was discovered the 55 pound puppy had multiple fractures in his spine.
One Dog At A Time rescue came forward to care for Wyatt. They are hopeful he will walk again if he can be examined by a veterinary Neurologist.
One Dog At A Time Rescue says there is reason to be hopeful.
When Wyatt was first rescued there was no feeling in his tail and rear legs. He would however, react to pain in his back feet when pressure was applied. That fact led to a CT scan which showed three fractures in the dog’s lower neck. These are compressing on his spine. Coble took Wyatt to a specialist in a neighboring town where he received an injection in his spine to relieve pressure and stimulate his nervous system. Soon after the injection, Wyatt shocked everyone by wagging his tail.
Kari Coble, founder of One Dog At A Time, was encouraged by the event. It spurred her to find a specialist that can determine if Wyatt is a good candidate for spinal surgery.
“This little boy, who has been shuffled around to 3 different homes in his short 4 months of life, deserves the best that we have to offer,” said Coble. “It is unsure what truly happened to Wyatt. We have no idea how his injuries occurred. We honestly do not want to give up on him. This cannot be his fate. His test results are being forwarded to the best Neurologists in both our state and surrounding states, in hopes that someone will feel he is a candidate for surgery. He deserves to live a long and loved life. If we do nothing… if we do not at least try… he will still require surgery to stabilize him and a wheelchair because he will be permanently paralyzed.”
A special fundraiser to Help Wyatt Walk Again.
One Dog At A Time started a YouCaring Page called Help Wyatt Walk Again. They know his care will be expensive. They have already spent $4000 for tests and initial treatment.
With so many uncertainties ahead of them One Dog At A Time is asking that animal lovers everywhere share Wyatt’s story on social media. They know the paralyzed Labrador/Great Dane puppy needs a miracle.
Coble told the Centre Daily Times, “At this point we are sincerely asking for prayers. Does this dog need a miracle? He really, truly does. Do I think that miracles can happen? Absolutely.”
