In March 2000 I was one of five people in my community to start the Heaven Can Wait Animal Society for homeless dogs and cats. Today our small rescue group is the largest in Las Vegas and we’ve placed thousands of pets into their forever homes. One lesson I learned over the years is that dogs and cats with special needs are among the hardest to adopt, so when I heard about the Pose A Pet™ app to get pets into new homes quicker, I wanted to know more.
What is Pose A Pet™?
Pose A Pet is an app created to take get great pictures of pets in shelters by using the same sounds that professional pet photographers use to get their attention. The app not only gets professional quality pictures it also instantly creates an eye-catching virtual flyer for rescue groups to share on their social media sites.
The idea seems simple, but I’ve seen too many bad adoption pictures of dogs turning away from the camera and cats ignoring the lens in front of them. If a potential adopter can’t connect emotionally with the face of a pet or get a feeling of their personality, it’s easy for them to skip past the photo.
The founders of Pose A Pet discovered that animal lovers are more engaged when they see a good quality picture and that translates into more adoptions!
The ASPCA says that if just 1% of the U.S. population fostered or adopted a homeless animal, the shelters would be nearly empty. Pose A Pet could be the bridge to get more dogs and cats into homes.
Pose A Pet 50/50 Program
Pose A Pet was created by pet bloggers who have worked in shelters and rescue groups. In addition to more pet adoptions they also wanted to give back to the groups that rescue pets. Their 50/50 shelter program gives 50% of the app proceeds to a specific shelter or rescue group of the week.
This week if you download the app and purchase the upgrade, Heaven Can Wait Animal Society will benefit from the proceeds.
I applaud Pose A Pet and their Rescue Revolution for putting forth the effort to solve a big problem for homeless pets. Please take a minute to personally check out the app so we can get more special needs dogs and cats into their forever homes.
