The theory of six degrees of separation says that every person on the planet can be connected to any other person in six steps or less. This theory played out perfectly between three people whose only connection was me. On this Wordless Wednesday I’m going to try to tell the story in pictures.
Last winter Lessons From A Paralyzed Dog posted a story about this beautiful boy named Hayden who lost the ability to walk due to Degenerative Myelopathy. Hayden was one of the first dogs to turn in his dog wheelchair for a pair of skis.
Hayden died unexpectedly from cancer in February and a couple of months later his mom Tracey contacted me. She was devastated by the loss of her dog and wanted to honor him by adopting another disabled pet. I put her in contact with Heath’s Haven Rescue and here she is with her new boy, Joey. Tracey and her mother traveled 20 hours to take Joey home.
A couple of weeks ago I posted another story on Facebook about this big Golden Retriever named Rockie. Linda, who owns Doggie Essentials, is a fan of my site and contacted me. Sue, who is Rockie’s pet parent, is a client of Linda. (I hope you’re keeping up with the connections). A spinal condition made it impossible for Rockie to walk and Sue wasn’t able to buy her a wheelchair. I put out the call to readers to see if someone knew how to build a cart for Rockie.
In a matter of hours, Tracey contacted Linda who in turn contacted Sue. Tracey generously donated Hayden’s wheelchair to Rockie. Here she is pictured above walking for the first time in a year in his wheelchair. I think this is a pretty perfect story of six degrees of separation. What do you think?
