Two of my favorite companies, Sleepypod and Assisi Animal Health, just received approval from the FDA to launch the Assisi Loop Lounge™. The companies teamed up to make the first total body, anti-inflammatory pet bed that heals pets faster and reduces pain. This new at-home therapy will be a huge benefit to disabled pets.
When the original Assisi Loop® got the go-ahead from the American Veterinary Medical Association in July 2015, I couldn’t wait to share the news. It gave veterinarians a completely unique way of treating small animals with chronic and degenerative conditions. I think the Assisi Loop Lounge will have an even greater impact for healing pets with spine problems, pressure sores, urine scald and widespread inflammation.
Here’s how the technology works
The original Assisi Loop is a coil wire loop that rests on top of an injured part of a pet’s body. It sends a micro-current of PEMF (Pulsed Eectromagnetic Field) which increases blood flow and promotes healing.
The micro-current sets up a biological process that increases a key chemical in the healing process called Nitric Oxide. It also accelerates how fast a dog or cat gets better.
The need for a total body treatment bed
While the Assisi Loop was a hit with veterinarians and pet owners, it can only treat one area at a time. So, if your dog has inflammation throughout their body, the Loop had to be moved many times to complete a treatment. Pet owners who loved the Loop asked Assisi Animal Health for a better solution.
That led to a collaboration with Sleepypod, a company that has won numerous awards for their crash-tested pet carriers. I became a fan of Sleepypod after meeting them at a conference and seeing their comfortable and sturdy pet carriers, firsthand.
The Assisi Loop Lounge
Assisi Animal Health took the technology and put their healing coils inside a therapy pad that covers the entire floor of a Sleepypod carrier. The pads are 10 inches thick to assure that your dog or cat receives therapy from their nose to their tail while lying comfortably in the carrier.
It provides a convenient whole-body treatment for your dog in 15 minutes. Pet parents can use the therapy bed at home or while they are on the go.
How to order the Assisi Loop Lounge
The Lounges are only available with a prescription from your veterinarian. Then they can be purchased through Sleepypod.
They therapy pads are available in two carrier models: Sleepypod Air and Sleepypod Atom. Both are made for small dogs. The company has plans to make a larger therapy pad soon for big dogs.
Medical conditions treated by the Assisi Loop Lounge:
- Neurological/ spine conditions – IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease)
- Wound healing – pressure sores
- Internal inflammation – pancreatitis
- Acute inflammatory conditions – post operative pain, ruptured disc
