My dogs like to celebrate Valentine’s Day almost as much as I do. So in honor of the holiday I whipped up a batch of Valentine’s Day Dog Cookies from a recipe shared by my blogging buddy, Suzanne at apuginthekitchen.
After a year of vague digestive symptoms that went from mild to severe and many rounds of tests Cody, my 11 year-old Shepherd/Collie mix was diagnosed with IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease). IBD happens when the lining of a dog’s small or large intestine becomes overloaded with inflammatory cells. Dogs with the disease have loose watery stools, chronic weight-loss and malabsorption of nutrients.
Cody is on a wide array of very strong medications and he was prescribed a restricted diet that I am cooking for him. One of the ingredients I am supposed to add to his diet is essential fatty acids so I was very excited when Marvelous Products asked Cody to review Benecoat.

The passing of Halloween has always represented the beginning of the ‘holiday season’ for me. I really like this time of year. There are a lot more social gatherings and parties. I see more friends and family and spend time catching up with them. I also, like many, enjoy the holiday comfort foods.
How much do you know about pet nutrition? If you’re anything like me, you read the labels to make sure the first ingredient starts with a protein because that’s what the commercials on TV tell us to do and you try to find a brand that is has natural or organic ingredients. But truthfully, I don’t know very much about pet nutrition and it should be a topic those of us with special needs dogs and cats know very well. It is up to us to keep our “specially-abled” pets as healthy as possible.
From the time Cody joined our family, he has always suffered from an extremely sensitive stomach. It’s an issue we’ve continually dealt with for 9 years. At times you can hear his stomach gurgle from one end of the house to the other after he’s eaten a food that doesn’t agree with him.
That’s why I was very excited when pawTree™ asked Cody and me to review their holistic dog food. Their products were developed by veterinarians who have customized nutrition for the unique qualities of individual dogs.
