It is a nonprofit group that provides financial aid for dogs in need of lifesaving procedures. If you had extra money on hand, how would you spend it? Brown Dog Foundation saves sick family pets with grants they award to owners in need. The group has been “bridging the gap between the cost of medical care and saving the family pet” since 2006. Here are their requirements and the application process.
I was introduced to Brown Dog Foundation while writing one of our most popular posts, When Pet Owners Can’t Afford Veterinary Bills. It gives pet parents a comprehensive list of organizations in the US and Canada that offer financial aid for sick and injured family pets. A few of these agencies are operated by large charities, but the majority are small groups that were formed by animal lovers who want to help. They work with a big heart and a limited budget.

I love when I get to share a new resource with readers. That’s why it was so exciting when I heard about 3 mini grants that offer financial aid for handicapped pets. It was even more of a treat because I learned about the programs through a chance meeting.
That’s what happened earlier this month while I attended the 2017 Western Veterinary Conference. I was there checking out the latest products for paralyzed pets (this will soon be a featured story). Jim Nelson and Rene Agredano, who are the founders of Tripawds, were there as exhibitors. Tripawds is the largest online community for pets who have undergone an amputation. [Read more…]
