Lessons From A Paralyzed Dog is deviating from sharing a story about an amazing pet to tell the story instead about an extraordinary paralyzed chimpanzee. Scarlett made a remarkable recovery after a lesion was discovered on her spine. Scarlett’s experience is important because of her victory in learning how to walk again and because she has lived most of her 34 years in a government laboratory.
Stories of amazing pets who have suffered a handicap or disability or paralysis.
After fourteen years in animal rescue I still find it hard to believe that someone could discard a dog or cat that has been a family pet for a decade or more, but actually the problem is more common than you think. Recently volunteers at the Heaven Can Wait Animal Society rescued one of these senior pets and in the process of saving her life they discovered a dog who gives inspiration to all homeless animals.
Rikki is a sweet little Chihuahua who was born with a deformity in her front legs. The Animal Rescue League of Boston realized that while Rikki’s body might not be perfect, the perfect match could be made with a loving family. This Holiday Season, Rikki is getting the chance for a new life.
Lessons From A Paralyzed Dog encourages everyone who is looking for a new pet, to consider adopting one of amazing dogs and cats available at shelters with disabilities or special needs. That animal will be forever grateful for your help.
