Celebrate National Dog Day with a special musical video from Walkin’ Pets. Each year on August 26, National Dog Day salutes all dogs whether they are mixed breeds, pure breeds or special needs breeds. It is the only holiday that honors family dogs, says thank you to working dogs and calls attention to dogs waiting to be adopted. This year there is also a one-of-kind musical video that pays tribute to dogs in wheelchairs.
National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige. The date of August 26 was chosen because it commemorated the day Colleen’s family adopted a Sheltie, which was their first family pet. Colleen is also the founder of National Puppy Day and National Cat Day.
To celebrate National Dog Day and show the world how awesome dogs in wheelchairs are, Walkin Pets by HandicappedPets.com put together the fun video below. The staff at Walkin’ Pet wanted a creative way to spread the word that all pets deserve to live happy, healthy lives – no matter their differences.

Walkin’ Pets is one of my favorite companies. I work with them often and they have run several of our Giveaways. I like Walkin’ Pets because of their large variety of products for paralyzed pets. These include: harnesses, slings, boots, scoot bags, dog beds and wheelchairs. All of their products are manufactured with the goal making life safe and happy for pets with paralysis.
Their Walkin’ Wheels dog wheelchair is the only adjustable cart on the market. That means it can get bigger as your dog grows. It is the wheelchair my family chose for Sophie when she lost her ability to walk.
Walkin’ Pets was founded on the concept that aging, disabled, and injured pets are family. Their website offers educational tutorials for pet owners and ongoing support. Their foundation also awards grants to pet parents in need of financial aid.
