I’m excited to announce the winner of the Walkaboots™ giveaway. We had a great response from readers. It appears everyone loves the products from Walkabout Harnesses as much as I do. We greatly appreciate the giveaways they host.
Thanks to all the pet parents who entered the contest and shared their story about life with a paralyzed dog.
And now I want to introduce the winner. Drum roll please…..
Cali is a 3-year-old Chiweenie who’s lived with her owner, Gill C. and her Doberman sister Daffy, since being rescued at 12-weeks-old. Cali became paralyzed on July 12, 2018 – due to IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease).
Because she’s a young, active dog, Cali has worn away the skin on her paws from dragging them. Gill protects them by wrapping her paws in bandages, but Cali isn’t happy with the process. She hides her head under a blanket every day while it’s being done.
Cali has a wheelchair to help her be mobile and a giant mesh playpen so she can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. She even has a little swimming pool for hydrotherapy that she’ll start to use when the weather gets warm.
Here’s what Gill wrote about Cali’s condition
“My Cali would love to have boots to protect her hind legs. We change bandages every day. One paw has healed and I try to leave her in her “pack & play” with that leg unbandaged. The other we’re not so lucky with and I have to replace the bandage to keep her from licking it open again and again.
She continues to inch her way toward improvement. Losing a leg due to an unhealed sore would end any forward motion we’ve taken. We would love to try this product. Thank you for offering this opportunity.”
Walkaboots with Lids and JAWZ Booties
Cali won a pair of Walkaboots with Lids and a second pair of JAWZ booties for indoors.
Cathy Erwin, founder of Walkabout Harnesses, designed Walkaboots with Lids to give extra support to dogs who knuckle and scrape their paws when they walk. The lids are like having a cushy sole on top of the boots.
JAWZ Booties are made to give your dog the grip they need to walk safely indoors without slipping. The booties are lightweight and made from shark skin neoprene to keep your pup’s paws comfortable all day long. They’re great for dogs with Degenerative Myelopathy, arthritis and other conditions where slipping is a problem.
You can find more information about Walkaboots and JAWZ booties at the Walkabout Harnesses website.
