Haunted details of the dog wheelchair Halloween costume contest
If you’re new to our website, or just need a refresher, our annual Halloween costume contest is open to any dog with a dressed-up wheelchair or other mobility device. Whatever Halloween costume you choose for your pup is appropriate, but the wheelchair, stroller, wagon or other device must be incorporated into the costume.
We’re looking for creativity, originality, and some super excited dogs in their costume.
How to Enter the Contest
There are two ways to enter:
- Send me an email with a photo of your dog in their full doggy wheelchair Halloween costume. Email to: [email protected]
- Post your photo on our Facebook page. Enter it as a comment on the pinned post at the top of the page. Click here to find our page: Lessons From a Paralyzed Dog Facebook page.
Entries will be accepted from October 15 through Thursday, October 24 at 12pm PST. Winners will be notified via email or Facebook. So, watch out for my reply to you.
(You must live in the contiguous United States to enter.)
Keep an eye open because I’ll be posting pictures of your pups for our Facebook community to enjoy as they come in.
The 2 winners will officially be announced in our newsletter.
The ghostly prizes from Mozzie Pants
Mozzie Pants are comfy, breathable pants, t-shirts and suspenders for dogs. The original pants were developed by founder Jules Korth to “potty train” Mozzie, the homeless street dog she rescued.
But today, Mozzie Pants has expanded to include products for incontinent dogs and paralyzed dogs.
The prizes for the winners of the contest include:
- The Original Mozzie Pants (Blue)
- Mozzie Walking Pants (Blue or Grey)
- The Mozzie T-Shirt (Blue)
- Mozzie Suspenders
All prizes are available in XS, S, M, L and XL sizes!
Our first-place winner will receive their choice of any two items from the list above, and second-place will receive one item of their choice from the list.
Monstrous Mozzie Pants
Mozzie Pants is an incredible line of doggy clothing that’s perfect to protect your paralyzed pup’s legs when they drag. They slip on and off easily and have an elastic band to keep them in place. The pants can even be sewn shut to prevent scrapes on your dog’s paws.
Mozzie Pants makes their Original pants for dogs who wear diapers and Walking pants for pups who need their bladder expressed.
The Mozzie T-Shirt is a good option for dogs with seasonal allergies. And the snaps are the perfect way to keep diapers in place. They attach to the pants, turning them into an adorable and functional jumpsuit.
The new Dog Suspenders attach to Mozzie Pants, belly bands and dog diapers.
Frightening (and cute) costumes from last year’s contest
If you’re not quite sure how to dress up your pup, it’s time to get inspired! Last year’s winners got really creative, with a pup-shaped airplane, a doggy police cruiser, and even a decked-out Budweiser Clydesdale!
If you’re not into DIY costumes, I also have a fun article about costumes you can buy for dogs in wheelchairs. There’s everything from a super-hero, to a colorful poncho, to a cowboy riding your pup.
You’ll still need to dress up your dog’s wheelchair, but with a little creativity, you can easily expand these doggy costumes and get your fur kid entered into the contest.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s clever concoctions. Get your entries in soon. Good luck to everyone.
