Chester, a disabled puppy who lives at the Animal Welfare League Queensland in Australia is getting a little help from a USA manufacturer. The nine-month old dog was born with a deformity to his front legs, but he will soon be outfitted with a custom-made doggie wheelchair shipped to him from the other side of the globe. Funds to buy the wheelchair came from generous pet lovers from the Facebook community.
Chester is a friendly, affectionate puppy who loves to play with his pals at the animal rescue organization. While he has learned to get around over short distances, he isn’t able to go for a walk or explore his environment. The wheelchair will allow Chester to rest his front paws in a lifted position and push himself around with his back legs. Staff at AWLQ expect him to be “zipping around with enthusiasm” very soon.
Once Chester gets used to his new wheels, the rescue group wants to adopt him. They are currently looking for a suitable home where he can get around both in and out of his wheelchair and an owner who will be committed to giving him the love and assistance he will need throughout his life.
