Earlier this week we celebrated Change A Pet’s Life Day so I thought it would be a good time to share the stories of three handicapped dog heroes whose lives have been changed by the humans who reached out to them and because of their will to live and never give up.
Tiger is a handsome Staffordshire terrier who is full of life even after having both of his hind legs amputated as a result of being hit by a car. Tiger’s had a tough time, but he’s never given up hope. When he was originally rescued it was determined that one of his rear legs had to be amputated. Then Tiger was sent to a small animal shelter that unfortunately wasn’t able to properly take care of him. As a result he suffered complications that led to a second amputation. Tiger is now in the capable hands of For Belle’s Sake – Rescue/ Rehabilitation where he is receiving the care he needs. Tiger will soon be looking for a foster home and then a family to adopt him.
Tia-Marie is a 12 year-old paralyzed Miniature Pinscher who became confined to a wheelchair after an accident. A rescue group saved her life and eventually she was adopted. Today Tia-Marie is studying hard to become a therapy dog so she can help others and she’s taking part in a dog beauty contest.
Angel is a sweetheart who was found dragging her hind legs through the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. She was paralyzed due to a broken back and had been fending for herself so long that she had sores on her legs that were worn down to the bone. Human angels rallied around this beautiful girl to transport her all the way to Idaho to Heath’s Haven Dog Rescue where Angel got the treatment she needed. Angel’s optimistic personality didn’t waiver throughout the journey from Mexico to the U.S. or during the months of rehab therapy. Today Angel is a happy dog in a wheelchair who has a family to love her.
