Like a lot of pet parents I am pretty picky about the food and treats Cody and Bailey eat. I’m always on the lookout for items that are made in the USA, have as few ingredients as possible and have no additives. So when Cody and Bailey were picked to review 5 of the newest treats from Jones Natural Chews, I was excited. I follow their blog and know the company has the highest standards.
When the box arrived and the dogs saw 5 big meaty packages of goodies, they were equally thrilled. The past few days Cody and Bailey have been happily sampling the interesting variety of crunchy, chewy and savory treats. They have also had the opportunity to broaden their taste buds because these are no ordinary chews. They are a variety of adventurous meat selections from Jones Natural Chews single ingredient treats. Read along and I’ll explain what I mean.
Jones Natural Chews Co.
Jones is a family run business with six generations of experience in the meat cutting industry that dates back to mid-1800. Today the company takes pride in producing quality dog bones that are slowly baked and chews that are made from 100% meat that is supplied from USDA inspected plants. I like the idea that professional meat cutters prepare the treats and that they are primarily made from only one ingredient. This is perfect for Cody’s sensitive stomach and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Our 5 Adventurous Treats
Frank N Woofer
I’ll start with my dogs’ favorite treat, the Frank N Woofer. Both Cody and Bailey loved everything about this chew and lucky for me they came two in a package. From the size, shape, smell and taste both dogs couldn’t wait to gnaw away on the Frank N Woofer. The treat is 7-8” long which was a good size for my large dogs who typically gobble up normal sized treats in a heartbeat. The chew is made from dried chicken sausage that resembles a hot dog and it is wrapped in a 100% beef burger. Delicious!
Bully Bacon Twist
Because I am a vegetarian, my dogs are NOT familiar with the smell or taste of bacon so they were very surprised when I handed each of them a Bully Bacon Twist. It is 6 inches of beef pizzle twisted together and wrapped in an oven baked pork skin that smelled just like bacon. There were two treats in the package so each dog got to sample their own. It took them a minute to get familiar with the scent of bacon and then they went to town chomping and chewing.
Bully N Bacon
Later in the week the dogs sampled another bacon treat called Bully N Bacon. The ingredients are similar to the Bully Bacon Twist, but this oven baked goodie is shaped for larger dogs that have the need to chew big so it was perfect for my guys. Last year bully sticks played a big role in Bailey’s life as a growing and teething puppy so she was delighted be chewing on one again.
Bully N Beef
Bully treats in our house are handed out as a special treat when Mom and Dad go out for the evening. So I handed each dog this interesting chew right before I walked out the door. Their reaction to the treat made me stay behind for several extra minutes. You see Bully N Beef is an all-natural, beef trachea with an all-natural beef pizzle tied through the center. I later learned that trachea is a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin which is good for my dogs’ joints. This was the first time my dogs have seen this adventurous meat and they weren’t sure it was meant for eating. Bailey spent several minutes flipping her chew in the air and catching it like a ball while Cody rolled his treat on the floor. Finally both dogs realized Bully N Beef was edible and they happily plopped themselves on the floor to sample the taste.
I have to say I considered this treat an adventure food more than Cody and Bailey. This was the final chew they sampled and each dog was ready for it, plus they loved the smell. Heart Breakers are all-natural pork heart slices that are oven baked with no artificial ingredients. I handed one treat to each dog and they went to work chewing. The slices were large and it took the dogs quite a while to chew through the crunchy pieces. They loved this exotic treat.
I highly recommend all of these single ingredients treats and chews from Jones Natural Chews. You can order one or all of them for your dog at the Jones Natural Chews website or click on the Store Locator to find the pet supply retailers in your area that carry the products. In addition to having natural healthy treats I want to let you know that every month Jones Natural Chews sponsors a variety of pet charities. As someone who has been in animal rescue for 16 years, that warms my heart.
Cody and Bailey send a big, wet kiss to Jones Natural Chews Co. for being included in this taste test.
