I probably sound like a broken record by now, but in my opinion one of the best purchases people can make for the care of their paralyzed dog is a support harness. That’s why I am excited that Walkabout Harnesses is hosting a paralyzed dog double giveaway.
I used the original Walkabout Back End harness for 5 years as an aid for Sophie. The type of paralysis she had made it hard for her to scoot around the house or outdoors. Our harness became the lifeline for her care. I couldn’t have made it through 5 years of bending and lifting a 50lb dog without it.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to buy a lifting harness for your disabled dog, you are going to love this giveaway. Cathy Erwin, the founder of Walkabout Harnesses, will be awarding one Full Body Suspender and one Walkabout Support Harness to one lucky winner.

The Full Body Suspender is the newest device developed by Walkabout Harnesses. It is an accessory that keeps the rear harness from slipping backwards. The suspenders attach in two places and wraps around the front end of your dog or cat to insure the harness doesn’t slide off the back end.
Dogs with paralysis can get atrophy of their muscles. Sophie’s hind muscles decreased dramatically in size. The condition made it harder for the back end of the harness to stay in place without slipping down. Full body suspenders would have been a great accessory to have.
Other uses for the Full Body Suspender
Walkabout Harnesses developed the suspender so that it can be used to keep other mobility devices in place. With a few minor adjustments, the Full Body Suspender works with the Walkabout Chest Halter and all of the Walkabout amputee and knee braces.
The Walkabout Back End Harness
This harness has been recommended by veterinary and rehabilitation specialists for more than 30 years. It has been safely used to rehabilitate millions of pets all over the world. Walkabout Harnesses are commonly used for dogs and cats with hind end weakness, arthritis, hip dysplasia, spinal tumors, injuries, amputees and more. The harness supports your dog when they go outside to the bathroom and it gives them plenty of room to eliminate without messing the device.

Why I like Walkabout Harnesses
Cathy Erwin founded the company in 1986 to provide safe and effective products for disabled pets. All of the devices are personally developed by Cathy and tested in major veterinary facilities. Walkabout products are endorsed by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Canine Rehabilitation Certification program at the University of Tennessee and many more institutions. The one thing I particularly admire about Cathy is her enthusiastic spirit to help disabled animals.
