I have good news to share about Igi. The disabled bomb sniffing dog will soon be traveling to San Antonio, TX to his new home with Louisa Kastner, co-founder of Mission K9 Rescue. Igi’s handler Ken sends his appreciation to all of the animal lovers who offered to give his partner a good home.
“I am getting prepared for Igi as we speak. I am ordering him a wheelchair and am going to get him scheduled for underwater treadmill therapy and acupuncture,” said Louisa. “I was a veterinary technician in the Army for 10 years, and my retired Military Working Dog just passed in October. I have told everyone that the right dog will eventually come along and here he is.”
Mission K9 Rescue finds homes, transports and adopts retired Working dogs. The organization is going to help with Igi’s medical bills and physical therapy bills which is so helpful.
It was hard for Ken to make the decision to let his dog go and it was equally difficult for him to choose who should be the dog’s new family. We had so many wonderful and experienced animal lovers who gladly offered to open their homes to Igi.
I plan to write one more follow up story when Igi meets Louisa in two weeks. Louisa has promised to take lots of pictures so everyone will be able to see how he is doing.
