We have a winner to announce for our first-ever $100 Halloween Costume Contest Gift Card Giveaway. The gift card from HandicappedPets.com will go to:
And her adorable Dachshund
Congratulations from Lessons From A Paralyzed Dog!
Krysten was excited to learn that Oscar won the Giveaway. Both are big fans of HandicappedPets.com and Krysten has been saving to buy a few large items from their website. The $100 gift card will be a big help.
Oscar is 6 years old. Krysten added him to the family when he was just 10 weeks old. He became paralyzed on November 3, 2014 due to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).
“Oscar had IVDD which we treated conservatively and while we have come a long way, they don’t think he will ever regain his ability to walk,” said Krysten. “While it hurts us to see him like that, he has no idea anything is wrong with him. He is just as happy as he was before and it certainly hasn’t slowed him down.
Oscar loves snuggling in a big blanket and watching TV, chasing his RC car outside, or playing with his favorite stuffed hedgehog. He has 2 fur sisters, and we just recently lost his brother (same parents, different litter) to IVDD. We had surgery done but he developed Myelomelacia (softening of the spinal cord), and his father also lost the battle to IVDD last year.”
Here is how Oscar looks when he isn’t wearing his police car costume.
Handicappedpets.com has the most comprehensive selection of products, services and support for pets with paralysis, hind end weakness and other disabilities. They are known for their Walkin’ Wheels adjustable dog wheelchair and Walkin’ lift and support harnesses. The company also carries pet strollers, boots and splints, aids to keep an incontinent dog dry and products so you can travel safely with a fur kid.
In addition, their website assists pet parents in finding a rehab clinic in their area, list a secondhand wheelchair for sale and get help with financial aid for carts.
I want to thank everyone who participated in the Giveaway. Here are photos of some of the other entries in their favorite Halloween costumes.
