I am excited to announce the winner of our Dog Wheelchair Halloween Costume Contest. But first I want to thank everyone who entered. Each of you had such wonderfully creative costumes for your paralyzed dogs that it was nearly impossible to choose just one winner.
And because of that, every dog who entered the giveaway will get a prize. It warmed my heart to know how much our paralyzed dogs are loved.

Now, the winner of the contest – Kardi the Budweiser Clydesdale
Kardi is a French bulldog whose early life was spent in a puppy mill giving birth to litter after litter. At the age of two Kardi was rescued. Since then Kelsey, her Vet Tech pet mom, has given Kardi the loving home she deserves.
How Kardi became paralyzed
In January 2015, Kardi’s hind legs became paralyzed due to IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). She wasn’t a candidate for surgery due to other health issues.
“Being paralyzed definitely hasn’t slowed her down one bit,” said Kelsey. “She absolutely loves her wheelchair and truly loves life.”
It was one of the veterinarians that took care of Kardi who came up with the idea for her to have a “really cool costume.” She and Kelsey brainstormed ideas for months. Then one day the veterinarian watched a Budweiser commercial and together with Kelsey they decided it would be a cute costume they could design around Kardi’s wheelchair.
“The Budweiser Clydesdale horse costume took a lot of time to make,” said Kelsey. “It’s all handmade. But it turned out really cute and was worth all the time.”
