This story was shared by Marlene R. who spent the past week volunteering at Best Friends Animal Society, the world famous rescue organization in Utah. During her stay at the sanctuary Marlene fell in love with a very special paralyzed dog named Kenny. She’s asking the readers of Lessons From A Paralyzed Dog for help to find a new home for Kenny.
Kenny is a 6-8 year old American Staffordshire terrier/ Boxer mix who has trouble getting around on his own because of a car accident that injured his spine. In addition to that, the poor guy is also missing part of his jaw.
Even with all of these problems, Kenny is a real love bug who is always happy to be around people. Marlene and Best Friends would be thrilled to find a permanent or foster home for this sweet boy.
Marlene said Kenny has gone through hydrotherapy since being at Best Friends. The rehab built up the muscles in his legs, but did not improve his spine condition. He needs to be held during bathroom breaks.
Kenny touched Marlene’s heart with his gentle personality. She thinks he will do very well in a loving home environment where he can get the attention and care he deserves. Currently there is no one to help him at the sanctuary during the night.
Kenny weighs 50lbs. and needs someone who can lift him, help him get to and from his potty breaks and give him the two medications he takes daily. It would also be great if someone could be home with Kenny most of the day.
If you are interested in learning more about Kenny, please look at his Best Friends adoption page: Adopt Kenny
Everyone needs help from time to time, even if you are a world-famous rescue group or one paralyzed dog. Please help us find a new home for Kenny. Marlene and I would be grateful if you could share Kenny’s story with other animal lovers or answer the call yourself.
